Pastor Justyn Payne was born to Jerryl and Presiding Elder Rev. Brenda Payne M.Div In Boston, Massachusetts In 1986, but moved quickly to Texas in 1989. As the saying goes “I’m not from Texas but I got here as quickly as I could!”

  Growing up a Preacher’s Kid, he quickly found out what it meant to serve in church every day of the week. He was very fond of music and as soon as the age of 2, he was playing with drumsticks and banging on pots and pans in the kitchen. By 5 Justyn was playing regularly in church at St. James AME church in Dickinson. As Rev Brenda Payne was assigned different churches, Justyn was right alongside her as her drummer and backup musician to his father Jerryl. Justyn Attended Texas State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Sound Recording Technology with a minor in jazz performance.

    While at Texas State University, Justyn found a church home at Word of Life Christian Faith Center under the leadership of Pastor James Jacobs. Justyn was immediately drawn to the vision and call of God in this ministry and has lived in the greater Austin area ever since. Elder Justyn Payne accepted his call to preach in the spring of 2012, and was ordained Elder in the Fall of 2018. He was appointed Assistant Pastor February 2021 to Word of Life Christian Faith Pastor Payne is a firm believer that this is the time for “greater works” and stands firm to not be anxious for anything “…but in everything, with prayer and supplication make your request know before God and the Peace of God, which  passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus”

  On February 5th, 2022, Pastor Payne was appointed Senior Pastor of Word of Life Christian Faith Center Buda by Visionary Founder and Overseer James Jacobs. Pastor Payne is excited to receive the baton and grateful to run this race in such a time as this! 

He is a Husband to Angelica King Payne and Father to Joshua J. Payne, Alyce Marie Payne, and Arthur J. Payne.
